A word on operating systemsWelcome by computers, mainly on the base of the best OS (and community) - linux. Nowadays as easy and potent as any m$ de-evolved software. Moreover, you don't even need to break a heavy sweat on installation. And no, it didn't become totally dull, you still can throw away the gnome front-end and remain with blackbox, windowmaker or another nifty windowmanager. The unfortunately most common OS is barely covered, most interesting being some useful windows shortcuts, in case you get stranded using it... Getting to understand how computers speakIn a more neutral and general way, i tried to elaborate a quick computer-human conversation guide, to demonstrate how simple most widely used protocols actually are (just check the SMTP/POP3 grammar to get an idea). On the other end, to read on how admins fantasy on speaking to their "lusers", a satyric serie of short novels has been written by Simon Travaglia on a sullen, vicious, remorseless and cleverly bright sysadmin that goes by the name of Bastard Operator From Hell (BOFH). It is intended to sound funny for computer geeks mostly, but has the virtue of holding shards of truth on the job.
